Kate & Peppy's gorgeous venue, The Ham Yard Hotel, London, featured a stunning roof top terrace where the Ceremony and Drinks Reception were held. Live music from our Acoustic Duo ran throughout the afternoon including special requests from the Bride & Groom for their Ceremony.

First Dance and the evening fun gets well and truly underway...

Kate & Peppy chose John Legend's 'All Of Me' from our DJ for their first dance to officially kick off their evening reception. Plus this uniquely cool venue features a bowling alley for guests to enjoy, and a photo booth provided even more entertainment!

The band take to the stage as the Bride & Groom once again lead the dancing. Plus our DJ keeps the party going with classic tunes but also featuring Indian music selected by Peppy which goes down brilliantly.

Final Words from Kate & Peppy...

21st Century Riot were the band for our wedding in London. We were looking for a band with a great sound. A band who could really sing, play and perform, would get the party going and the dance floor full. We found that in 21st Century Riot. 

The organisation before the day was professional and easy, on the day the band gave a great performance of lots of classic rock and indie songs that meant we were on the dance floor nearly all night and it was full the whole time. We also hired the 21st Century Riot acoustic duo for our wedding ceremony music and drinks reception which was one of our best decisions. Everyone complimented the music and sound they produced and it gave our drinks reception a great atmosphere.  We couldn’t recommend 21st Century Riot highly enough - if you're looking for a band for your wedding or an acoustic duo you won’t find better.

Andy organised a fabulous, luxury marquee in his garden to celebrate his 50th birthday party and booked 21st Century Riot along with our DJ to keep the entertainment going into the early hours! Thanks so much Andy for your hospitality on the night to the guys and thanks for your  fantastic feedback...

Having recovered from my hangover, but still suffering aches and pains from all the dancing I thought I should drop you an email about 21st Century Riot!

The Jay and the guys were charming and professional when it came to setting up and once they had, what a fantastic sound! I cannot thank them enough for belting out track after track of superb tunes. The whole evening was a great success, thanks in no small part to the guys and also the the DJ who kept things going between sets. I would have no hesitation recommending the band and judging by the comments from all of the guests neither would they.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you for the entertainment that you supplied for our Mess Christmas Ball.

21st Century Riot are without doubt one of the best bands that I have heard. The variety of music that they played struck a chord with all members of the audience, with it ranging from the 60’s through to modern day, with of course the obligatory Christmas songs. The dance floor always had people on it.

Rachel (DJ) was also superb with her song selection, in order to keep the tempo up and people on the dance floor. She was also very accommodating in playing people's requests.

I look forward to working with you again.

Well it's a debate that rages on and it's hard to be impartial as a lover of live music but in practical terms you would need to think about the kind of atmosphere you are looking to create, what would be suitable for the guests attending, how much space there is at your venue and of course,budget.

Keeping all these things in mind it’s also important to realise just how big a part of your event the musical entertainment is, not many people will remark on the vol-au-vent’s more than a second after scoffing them but a good band or DJ will be remembered long after the party’s over!Live music can be expensive, so if your budget is really limited I would say a DJ is probably a better option (beware of really cheap bands – they are probably cheap for a reason and could turn out to be an expensive mistake for you). Make sure you still do your homework as thoroughly for a DJ as you would for a band and be very clear about the type of music you are after, and more importantly not after, as well as discussing timings, the venue, load-in and other practical details. 

Another advantage a DJ has over live music is the repertoire, because even the best bands cannot have an unlimited repertoire and may not be able to cater for all your requests either before the event or on the night. However, if you pick the right band then what they play should be what you like anyway. 

For me, the energy and atmosphere created by a band cannot be replicated by a DJ playing recorded music. There’s something about hearing and seeing the instruments being played right there in front of you that is special. The relationship between the band and the crowd is also unique each time a band plays, so even if they’ve played the same song hundreds of times it’s different with each audience and that’s what makes live music so exciting. For me, there’s no comparison.
