FAQs

Please see below for answers to some common questions, but if you need more information or have specific questions for your event please don't hesitate to get in touch with our bookings manager Helen - helen@slapbackmusic.co.uk or 0208 226 4545.

Will there be music in between the band's sets?
Absolutely! We can provide a DJ for you or if the budget doesn't allow for this we have appropriate playlists for in between the band's sets. Alternatively, you can bring your own music to play through our system or for a small fee we can create bespoke playlists for you.

Can you learn my first song?
We are happy to learn your first song provided it is band friendly and we have appropriate notice. Where it is not possible or the original track is preferred an MP3 can be played through our PA system.

What time do you start/finish?
This is up to you! Our standard timings are based on arriving at 5pm (to be set up by 6.30pm) and finishing by 12am and we play 2 x 60 minute or 3 x 40 minute sets at appropriate intervals between these times. We can of course be flexible with this but extra charges may be applicable – just let us know if you need special arrangements for the timings and we will work everything out with you.

How long to you take to set up your equipment?
We allow 90 minutes to set up our equipment, sound check and change. This is usually plenty of time but it does depend on access to the stage area and any hold ups out of our control.

How do we book?
In order to secure your date a 20% deposit is required along with a signed booking agreement which we will send to you.

Can I provisionally book?
We appreciate you may not want to commit to booking a band until you hear them live, however popular dates do get booked up quickly and we can only secure a date with a signed booking agreement and deposit.

Can we hear you play live?
We would love all our clients to see us live before booking but unfortunately this is not always possible or practical. We specialise in performing at private functions, not pubs or clubs, and therefore unless our client gives their permission we cannot allow access to prospective clients.

If we do have any public events / showcases coming up then of course we will let you know but failing that hopefully our demos and videos will help your decision.

Do I need to pick the songs you will play on the night?

Not usually, in fact we recommend leaving this to us. Designing a good set list is quite an art and ours have been put together based on tempo, keys and most importantly experience. Of course if you have particular songs from our repertoire that you want the band to play then that’s no problem at all, just let us know and we will amend the set lists accordingly. It is worth keeping in mind that the band will also change the songs they play on the night to reflect the mood of the audience so if they have exact instructions on song choices it may restrict them from giving the best performance.

Can my friend / brother / cousin etc get up and sing a song with the band?
This can be the highlight of the night to see someone you know perform with the band and it’s something we love to make happen. We do just ask that you arrange it with us prior to your event and of course respect the band’s equipment.

Do I need to provide anything else for the band?
Changing rooms
Somewhere to change comfortably and keep out of your guests way in between performances would be appreciated. It helps if there is a mirror, electricity supply and comfortable chairs. Ideally the changing room should be secure so that the band can leave their day clothes and bags in there. If no changing room is available, please let the band know in advance.

Food and drinks
Food and soft drinks are requested as in most cases the band are away from home for approximately 12-16 hours. Therefore it’s important that they get a good meal in order to give their best performance, so hot food or access to a good quality buffet is always very much appreciated. If for some reason it is impossible to cater for the band at your venue, let us know well in advance.

Free Parking
This is usually available at most venues but if this is not the case parking expenses must be paid where receipts are provided.
